I got the following report related to the Locations Effect and mold about a respected northern California ME/CFS doctor:
"He mentioned the Bay Area being bad for patients both times we talked without much prompting from me. The first time we met I asked a general question about environmental factors, and he said that he had one patient in remission in Arizona and that people feel better in Hawaii (!). He then asked me if I lived in an old house and when I responded that my apartment was 100+ years old he nodded knowingly. And when we spoke today I mentioned that I was in Mexico because I don't feel good in SF, and he told me that he has heard this from dozens of patients. He thinks the Bay Area has a lot of immune stimulants (he didn't mention mold by name, but did mention general allergens.) I could be wrong, but I think he sees viruses as the root of the disease, and our over-sensitivity as a symptom of our dysregulated immune system. He did say his view on the illness is evolving, which I appreciated."
