I haven't mentioned, at least very much, my two stays in Lebanon, the first for 2 months, the second for five months. The climate there is very similar to Florida, at least when I was in FL in August one year.
During both trips, I thought there was a basic 'feel better' feeling, but both times there quickly developed friction between people which was hard to handle. Actually the friction had been there before I arrived, but just took awhile for me to see and be pulled into it.
Also, during the second trip we had curry several times. Now, I want you to know, I LOVE curry, at least the few times I've had it. But a couple weeks ago, I bought some curry powder at the local Coop, and immediately became very ill, although it just sat on my kitchen counter for a couple days. Symptoms were similar to a severe flare plus allergy symptoms. After I removed the curry powder from my apt, it took almost a week to start feeling somewhat better.
Maybe it has nothing to do with anything, but I'm wondering if I could be allergic to curry (quite possible, given my other strange allergies). If that is true, then there would be an explanation for the severe flares I had during the longer stay in Lebanon. This was in Tyre, and during the first six weeks or so, I'd been feeling really good! Again there was lots of interpersonal stress, but other than that, there didn't seem to be any reasonable explanation for the fairly frequent flares. I was eating healthy--fresh--food, getting LOTS more exercise than at home (lived in a fourth floor flat, 66 stairs, no elevator!), lots more sunlight, etc.
The missionary couple I stayed with was so offended by my frequent illnesses that their behavior become downright obnoxious, especially after I returned home. But that's another story...
So even though a climate might be a good one, I wonder if other things might cancel out the benefits. My aunt in Fort Myers believes that I feel better there because I can drive her car anytime I want (don't have a car here) and so I get out and do things more, my world is 'wider.' And I get to exercise in the heated pool where she lives.
