I've been convinced mold is my big issue and now I'm just confused.
I live in Iowa due to my husband's employment. We are both orinally from Utah and still own a couple of rental properties there.
When I came to Iowa I became ill after a chiropractor adjusted my neck. This adjustment immediately caused all kinds of pain relating to cervical instability. Long story and very disabling. I have only deteriorated with time, here in Iowa - with increasing migraines to the point it is a happy surprise to go even half a day without fighting a migraine or neck & jaw pain. Not to mention the myofascial pain and nerve pain.
Anyway, I have had 2 recent trips to Utah in which most of my symptoms were significantly improved and/or completely gone. I just came back yesterday from a pretty fabulous trip (health-wise) staying at my kids condo (they rent from a company - as I don't rent to family with my property) in the foothills of Salt Lake City. It's an older condo and I'm sure has had mold issues within the building in the past, although their unit smelled and seemed clean and dry.
After feeling good in Utah for a little over 2 weeks in Utah, I woke this morning (first night back in Iowa) to neck stiffness, head heaviness, watery eyes, and low energy.
I'm so confused. Also, my oldest son is not feeling well in the condo. He is depressed and lethargic (chronic fatigue?) meanwhile I felt energized and capable.
My last visit to the area I stayed with my sister in her mold-contaminated basement apartment in the foothills of the southern part of the valley. While I didn't feel as good as in the condo, I felt better in that part of Utah than Iowa on at least 50% of the days.
While I was in Utah this last trip, air quality was very poor (vulnerable populations were advised to stay indoors). I didn't have the time to stay inside because of the rental property work I needed to complete.
I didn't practice avoidance either time. I took my clothes from home so the only variable was location.
Also, it should be noted that I have felt equally unwell in 2 different Iowa homes, but a dry Iowa basement is practically unheard of.
So what is going on? Is it pressure systems? Mold? Chemicals? Any ideas?
Thank you!
