I spent January - August 2001 in Mexicali. At first I was a "3" there, but most of the time I was a "2". Mexicali has some almost freezing temperatures in winter, and a bit of rain. In summer it was extremely hot and dry. My polyester sheets dried on the clothesline in 15 minutes - seriously ! Mexicali has the reputation of being one of the worst cities in Mexico and I don't doubt it. It has no history, too many locals have hang ups about gringos. Some areas are dangerous, especially for white people. It's one of the most expensive cities in Mexico.
